HOW DO I GET MY RESULTS?

You are expected to pick up your results yourself. If you want them to be faxed to you or have someone else pick them up, you can fill out the proper line on the Authorization to Release Test Results. AIM will not call you unless you are positive for any result for any test taken, otherwise, please picks them up the following day or when they are expected to come from the laboratory.

WHAT DOES A PENDING TEST MEAN?

A pending test means it is still being processed in the lab. IT DOES NOT MEAN POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE, it simply means it is in the process of being completed. Often times, a pending STD test comes out positive, but not always. It is never wise to work with someone with a pending test as it can come out positive when it arrives.

WHAT DOES EQUIVOCAL OR INDETERMINATE MEAN ON A TEST RESULT?

An equivocal or indeterminate test means that possible some of the substance of the disease is present, but it may not be enough for a full result. Some people test so quickly after being exposed that the test is just starting to pick up the presence of the bacteria. Certain other substances in the sample can cause this result (blood in the urine, or medications). This result can also come back negative, or can mean that the sample is unacceptable, and in this case we will call you in so we can obtain a new sample.
